Dunbar's number (150)

In Robin Dunbar’s essay “You Gotta Have (150) Friends,” he explains how the number 105 is the perfect amount of friends that you can have and can keep up with.  Also how social networking sites like Facebook, keeps you in touch with friends and others that you might of not met with out.  Dunbar also wrote in his essay that in the real world we spend the majority of our time with five close friends. That’s one of the many things I agree with, because I have five friends that I spend the majority of my week with; my very close friends Megan, Stephanie, Dennis and my Aunty Dette.  To me, it doesn’t really matter how many friends I have, a hundred and seventy-one or fifty, as long as I have friends that I can call “Friends”.  Robin Dunbar’s essay has some truth to it, but I hope he’s not promoting the need for popularity.

  2. This poster is so true, I know that because since I moved to Northern California from Southern California my friends down South are still my best friends and we stay in touch. Since I've moved none of my friendships have grown apart, atleast not in the heart.
